The importance of consistent practices

Consistency

It sounds easy, but it’s never been easy.

Being consistent is extremely hard. Especially, when you are doing something that drains you, you wouldn’t want to do it every day.

This is the story of my friend, Ben. I met him in class. He’s enthusiastic about IT and acing all the courses at school. Sounds like a regular good student.

But there’s something I noticed about him from the first talk. He was desperately to get into FAANG, not in Canada. It has to be in the US.

Ben: “My girlfriend is there. This is the easiest way to go to the States as an international student.”

He already knew what he needed to do — keep grinding LeetCode.

Other classmates weren’t convinced by his goal. Realistically, it’s not easy to get into FAANAG with just a 2-year college degree.

I know recruiters will say, “We don’t really care about your education.” but most of them still filter candidates based on schools.

He never skipped his grinding, not a single day. Even when he got COVID.

His day always started with LeetCode. No matter how long it took, he solved one every day. He worked hard.
