I’ve been asked a question about the salary in IT quite often when I am hosting online talk once or twice a month. So, Let me share some insights about the salary of a Software Engineer in Canada.
How to find it?
The easiest way is, of course, searching on Google though I used to check Payscale mostly when I was researching Canadian job market.
Here’s the salary of a Software Engineer in Canada.
Median: C$77,000, bottom 10%: C$59,000, Top 10%: C$101,000
Of course, the average is ‘collected salary / n’. Therefore there’s always a fresh graduate and a 20 years of experienced engineer here. Plus, there will be an engineer making less than or more than that in the graph. This is basically providing how much you will make money approximately.
How about a Junior Engineer?
If you want to check out entry level, I would suggest adding ‘junior’ in the job title. It will be way more specific because you can’t find 10 years of Junior Software Engineer.
